・キング牧師の公民権運動のきっかけとなった黒人女性の物語を問題
に取り上げます。
長文語句空所補充問題の形式での出題です。比較的容易な問題ですが、
内容がわかっても語句を知らないために間違った解答をしてしまう典
型的な例です。

【正解】
(1) (D) Encumbered「苦労させられて」
(2) (A) at no time「決して～しない」
【解説】
(1)では、enamoredは「～に惚れて」、encapsulatedは「～に包まれて」、
encrustedは「～に覆われて」。(2)では、「同じ座席に共有することは、
決してなかった」でないと不自然です。in no timeの場合は「すぐに」
という意味になるので、at no time「決して～しない」とごっちゃに
ならないように、気をつけてください。seamstressは「裁縫婦」、
segregationは「分離政策、人種差別」です。
