Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, more people have been working from home. But how\u2019s your mental and physical health holding up?<\/p>\n
Among my online students are several doctors, and they\u2019ve told me this:<\/p>\n
\u201cFrank, after the state of emergency was lifted, we started seeing a spike in mental health issues.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n Now, I\u2019m not suggesting that depression always leads to a career change. But when you\u2019re busy commuting and working day after day, you might think about quitting\u2014yet rarely act on it. However, once remote work becomes routine, you suddenly have more time to pause and reflect. That\u2019s when the urge to change careers can kick in.<\/p>\n Thoughts like: \u201cIs this really the right job for me?\u201d \u201cIs this worth it?\u201d\u2014they creep in. And before you know it, the idea of changing your environment starts to feel like a way to change yourself.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve changed careers myself, so I\u2019m certainly not against making that leap in your 20s, 30s, or even 40s. But there\u2019s one thing I want you to remember:<\/p>\n Don\u2019t just assume that changing your environment will change you. Ask yourself\u2014do I know what I truly want to do? If you do, then use that clarity as the foundation for a career move.<\/span><\/p>\n Once you sign up on a job search platform, you\u2019ll get all kinds of offers from agents. Those offers can act like a mirror. Do they reflect what excites you? What motivates you?<\/p>\n Career changes driven by emotional emptiness rarely succeed.<\/span> But if you find a job that makes you say, \u201cYes, this is it!\u201d\u2014go all in.<\/p>\n \u2015\u2015Drive your business; don’t let your business drive you.<\/font><\/strong><\/p>\n Don\u2019t let work control you. Create your own paradigm and take charge of your career path.<\/p>\n Before handing in your resignation, take a deep breath. It\u2019s never too late to reflect\u2014especially after you\u2019ve registered on a job site.<\/p>\n Today\u2019s small step may lead to tomorrow\u2019s big future\u2014<\/p>\n Interested in my published books?
