Insights from Oxford Professor Marcus du Sautoy (Also Available in Spanish)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello, this is Frank.<\/p>\n<p>Actually, I teach English and Spanish through online lessons while working as a consultant. Perhaps it\u2019s the skill I honed during my trading company days. I feel that having a unique talent can sometimes be a life-saver.<\/p>\n<p>Among the classes I have taught, there was one titled <strong>\u201cIntensive Interview Practice!\u201d<\/strong>. Using the assigned textbook <em>\u201cListening to Knowledge Frontiers 2\u201d<\/em> (The Japan Times), students explored the essence of interactive communication.<\/p>\n<p>The second chapter of this textbook has a theme: <strong>\u201cWhere is humanity heading?\u201d<\/strong> One of the interviewees is Professor Marcus du Sautoy, a researcher at the Mathematical Institute of Oxford University and a Fellow of the Royal Society. His insights were so fascinating that I want to share them here.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIf you&#8217;re looking for a creator, then Mathematics is a very good candidate for a creator&#8230; Mathematics is the God that you&#8217;re all looking for.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cIf you\u2019re looking for a creator, mathematics is a very fitting candidate\u2026 Mathematics is the God you\u2019ve all been searching for.\u201d He also added that everything around us is merely fragments of mathematics embodied in the world.<\/p>\n<p>I am not an agnostic, but personally, while mathematics is just mathematics, if there is something that created my existence to understand and perceive it\u2014without even considering that\u2014mathematics might be one of the candidates for the creator.
