Today’s topic: “Are trading company guys just a bunch of flashy playboys?”
Well, the answer is simple: Yes!
…but not in the way you might think.
Rather than being shallow or thoughtless, the so-called “playboy vibe” many trading company employees give off is often a deliberate act. That’s right — it’s not that they are flashy, it’s that they choose to appear that way.
Now, I’m not claiming every single trading company guy is an elite, but let’s be honest: most of us entered the profession with a strong sense of pride. So why the flashy behavior?
It’s simple — we don’t want to be seen as stiff or pretentious.
From one man’s perspective, it’s like saying, “Hey, I can pull off this playful side too.” If someone were truly just a shallow playboy, I doubt they’d have made it into a trading company in the first place.
That said, yes — there are a few who genuinely come off as “Whoa, this guy’s over the top!”
But let’s be real: those guys probably don’t deliver much in terms of actual job performance either.
As for me? Thankfully, no one’s ever called me “too flashy.”
Being tone-deaf (what we call “KY” in Japan, short for “can’t read the air”) won’t get you far, especially with women.
