Hello, this is Frank.
This is not a book review—because I didn’t read enough to write one.
Looking back on my life, I can’t recall ever closing a book this early. It’s a first. I simply put it down and… haven’t touched it since. Honestly, I can’t even remember where I left it.
There are countless brilliant writers out there—talented authors quietly crafting refined, meaningful novels that may never see commercial success or ride the wave of marketing hype.
That’s why I feel compelled to say: I made it through the first 10 pages, and I just didn’t want to go on. It’s a shame—I genuinely wanted to understand what compelled this author to write this novel.
I don’t enjoy watching people mock others for laughs. I don’t admire YouTubers who thrive on takedowns, or TV personalities who make careers out of cheap jabs. I feel the same discomfort toward certain academic commentators who use self-deprecation as a tool to fish for praise.
And frankly, I feel the same way about authors who toy with artificially constructed characters built on fantasy and posturing. That’s just not for me.

After years working in trading firms, consulting, and language education, I’ve lived deeply with words. That’s why it saddens me that I couldn’t connect with the intention behind a novel from a globally best-selling author.
—Examine the content, not the bottle.
I still believe in serendipity—the magic of stumbling upon the right book at the right time. So I look forward to discovering a new author who will spark that sense of joy again.
