Hello, I’m Frank.

First, please take a moment to read the poem titled ‘Asa no Uta’ (Morning Poem) published in the Sankei Shimbun morning edition some time ago.

  ◆

The Iron Ore Cargo
The giant crane’s arm
Scoops it up

This work
My father
Performed without rest until retirement

Rain or wind
Midsummer or midwinter
The day his daughter left home
The night she cried alone

  ◆

My father, too, worked earnestly for 35 years without tardiness or absence, living his life with integrity.

“A life of nothing but work—what’s the point?”
In my student days, I scorned my father’s monotonous routine.

Yet, years after I began working, I came to respect him.
Through his silent consistency, he taught me the weight and worth of simple, repeated labor.

Now, I arrive at work an hour early to prepare. Why?
Perhaps, unknowingly, I’ve inherited my father’s resolve.

The man who taught me the power of perseverance.
His back—I can no longer see it.
