Hello, this is Frank.
Today, let’s talk about what sets successful entrepreneurs apart.
There’s been a lot of buzz online about this, but one thing that truly distinguishes successful entrepreneurs is their mindset. Instead of thinking in terms of “budgeting”-how much to spend out of what they have-they adopt an “investment mindset.” They ask: “If I invest this much, how much will I get back?” In other words, they focus on returns, not just expenses.
It’s not about “budget thinking,” but “investment thinking.” Take McKinsey, the famous consulting firm known for its high salaries. Why do so many consultants leave, even when they’re making over $1 million a year?
The truth is, for them, it’s not just about the paycheck or sales figures. What really matters is the impact they can make on society. This “impact-driven mindset” is what fuels their motivation.
I started consulting in my early thirties, working with a variety of companies. Fortunately, every company I helped saw steady growth in sales, and I was well compensated for my consulting and advisory services.
But here’s the twist: after a year or two, I would end the consulting contracts myself. I could have stayed on and enjoyed a stable, high income, but once I’d helped create something from nothing, I found myself losing interest.
It sounds extravagant, doesn’t it? Walking away from a sure thing. My entrepreneur friends often told me I was wasting a golden opportunity-and they had a point.
But just like those McKinsey consultants, once a company I worked with was financially stable, my interest faded. I was always seeking the next big impact, repeatedly reinventing myself through creative disruption.
Frankly, I’d be a difficult husband for anyone seeking stability. I’m probably the last kind of man a woman looking for security would want.
If I’d ever worked at McKinsey, I’m sure I would have left after a few years. For investment-minded, impact-driven people, stable organizations just aren’t satisfying.
We can’t rest on our laurels forever.
Current success doesn’t last forever. I always tell my business English students:
Embrace Change for Productivity.
To be more productive, you have to be willing to disrupt. If you’re afraid of change or instability, you won’t succeed in the world of online business.
By the way, here’s the rental server I use for my business. With excellent support, even beginners can feel secure! You can start with the Lolipop rental server for just 99 yen (excluding tax) per month-it’s been a real lifesaver for me.
