Let me introduce you to the characters from my lovingly ridiculous short parody novel, Katta Aita: The Man Who Aimed for Eiken Grade 1. A good friend of mine, Mr. I, downloaded the book onto his phone and shamelessly told me, “I read it whenever I’m feeling down.”
To be clear, he’s not the depressive type. He’s just addicted to the sheer absurdity of this story. Among our few but loyal readers, B-blood-types seem to enjoy it the most. Coincidence? Maybe not.
Before you dive into the character list, here’s a quick synopsis. If your gut reaction is “What the hell is this trash?”, I strongly recommend you close this site and get back to something productive—like studying. But if you find yourself chuckling and bookmarking it… welcome to the madness. You’ve been warned.

Synopsis
This is the tale of Katta Aita, a hopelessly average office worker who one day decides to take on the impossible: passing the Eiken Grade 1 exam. What follows is a parody-fantasy adventure filled with nonsense, inspiration, and a healthy dose of chaos. Originally published in a newsletter, this bizarre gem became a cult favorite overnight.
Characters
- ◇ Katta Aita — Age 35. A humble admin employee at Udeman Chemicals Co.
- ◆ Naiyo Aita — Age 31. Katta’s endlessly patient wife.
- ◇ Sakuzo Niki — Age 50. Eccentric CEO of One-Man Chemicals.
- ◆ Tomoyo Gokuraku — A third-year English major moonlighting as a hot spring cashier.
- ◇ Shijiyo Kikoku — World-travelled office lady. Also a bit intense.
- ◆ Uzou Itema — Punk-style troublemaker with a flair for chaos.
- ◇ Naizo Katsura — Balding office worker with a comb-over complex.
- ◆ Youji Fushi — Beat cop stationed at the local box. Not-so-secretly a poet.
- ◇ Yowai Ichou — Pharmacist suffering from excessive stomach acid (and existential dread).
- ◆ Toruko Kanesaki — Eccentric English instructor at DDB Language School (goes by “Vivian”).
- ◇ Akane Wainwa — Student/staff at DDB. Also known as “Sandy.” Loud, proud, and maybe psychic.
