グローバルビジネスで役立つ数学(59)大小関係を調べる(英語版)

Hi there!

Do you wish you could be a resourceful and energetic person? It is natural to think so when people spend much of the whole day stewing in teleworking; most of the day is occupied by a sedentary job.

I would say, “The more you move physically, the more you get impressed or motivated mentally.”

On my first business trip to Latin American countries, my heart raced with excitement every day, and whatever and whoever I saw was fresh to me; an encounter with a professional wrestler in Mexico and a fashion model in Curacao, becoming a mugging victim in Guyana, and whatnot. There are countless other encounters on the thrilling trip.

However, even more than that, my tenacity and resourcefulness were hardened by weathering scads of storms.

One day at midnight, I had to move to Honduras from Costa Rica despite my high fever of around 39 degrees centigrade. I could have canceled my flight, but I didn’t want to because the company head office had booked all business appointments in advance.

In retrospect, it was a mystery how I reached Honduras without being thrown a seven. I remember that a guy at the boarding gate at San Jose airport talked me into drinking a cup of black coffee and sleeping on the airplane. That may sound contradictory, but hey presto, it worked. I thought it was an act of divine providence.

My faith and my tenacity created resourcefulness, and my special feeling of traveling abroad galvanized me in life. Think outside the box and make it happen. That’s what I learned on my first business trip to Latin America.

Today, let me think outside the box to solve a magnitude relationship between the two numbers.

Check the magnitude relationship between \(2a\) and \(a + b\) given the condition of \(a < b\) to express the answer in inequality.

Here is my solution to the problem.

Add \(a\) to both sides of \(a < b\).
Then, \(a + a < a + b\).
Therefore, \(2a < a + b\).

It is so simple but needs to think outside the box.

Today, again, my Yellow Chart Math Ⅰ+A navigates my study in mathematics.

Stay tuned, and expect to see my next post.

Keep well.
